Pecunia has been a member of the Green Building Council since 2007 and has had a long-term collaboration with Enova in our projects. We have developed a guide for sustainability, which is used both in operation, management and projects and we are certified through Eco Lighthouse.

Our work is anchored in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the EU taxonomy. We use certification for buildings under management and in new development projects to systematically reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy requirements.

In order to focus on the areas we can influence to the greatest extent, we have selected five of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals:

Bærekraftsmål FN

Climate action
Pecunia continuously implements environmental action plans and, since 2022, has been certifying its property portfolio under the BREEAM In-Use scheme. Our objective is to achieve an Excellent rating for CBD properties and Very Good for all other locations. All new commercial development projects are required to achieve BREEAM Excellent, while refurbishment projects must meet a minimum standard of BREEAM Very Good.

Greenhouse gas emissions are calculated for all major projects and annually for the operation of our properties, based on purchased energy consumption and waste generation. Pecunia offsets all Scope 1–3 emissions through the purchase of UN-certified Carbon Emission Reduction (CER) credits, with the long-term objective of progressively reducing the need for carbon offsetting by continuously lowering our emissions.

We report annually in accordance with the GHG Protocol. In addition, we prepare an annual climate and environmental report as part of our environmental certification.

Affordable and clean energy
Energy consumption is continuously monitored across all our properties, with clearly defined targets for reducing consumption set out in our action plan. Between 2018 and 2022, we reduced the energy demand of our property portfolio by more than 20% through energy efficiency measures and optimized technical operations.

Technical upgrades, on-site renewable energy generation, battery energy storage systems for peak load management, and more efficient heat recovery solutions, combined with skilled technical property management, enable further energy savings and support the achievement of our sustainability targets.

Responsible consumption and production
Water consumption and waste generation are continuously monitored across all our buildings, with defined targets for reducing consumption and increasing waste sorting and recycling rates included in our environmental action plan.

All refurbishment and new construction projects must identify and assess opportunities for material reuse and solutions to reduce waste volumes during both the construction and operational phases. During tenant fit-outs, we actively seek opportunities for reuse across our property portfolio. To facilitate circular practices and material reuse, dedicated reuse storage facilities have been established at our properties.

Good health and well-being

For Pecunia, it is essential that our efforts to reduce energy consumption never compromise the working environment of our tenants. Ensuring an adequate supply of fresh air and maintaining comfortable indoor temperatures throughout tenant spaces are key priorities.

Dedicated systems have been installed to provide clean, filtered drinking water across our properties. In addition, we offer high-quality fitness facilities and secure bicycle parking to support the health, well-being, and sustainable mobility of our tenants.

All of our reported greenhouse gas emissions are offset through the purchase of certified carbon credits. In addition to reducing emissions, these projects contribute to improved health, enhanced quality of life, and sustainable economic growth.

Decent work and economic growth

Pecunia requires its suppliers and business partners to meet high standards with respect to working conditions, ethical business practices, and sustainable operations. We manage our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) responsibilities across both property operations and development projects through a systematic approach and an uncompromising commitment to workplace safety, with the goal of achieving zero lost-time injuries.

Pecunia strives to be an attractive employer by offering excellent opportunities for professional development, a positive and inclusive working environment, and employee wellness initiatives, including access to fitness facilities and physiotherapy services to support the health and well-being of our employees. Our target is to maintain employee sickness absence below 3%.

  • Continuous improvement of our environmental and climate performance through concrete action plans and regular evaluation.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, legislation, and environmental certification requirements.
  • Positively influencing our tenants and business partners in relation to climate and environmental responsibility.
  • Setting the highest standards for sustainability, governance, and social responsibility across our property management and project activities.
  • Pursuing new technologies and innovative solutions that contribute to increased efficiency and environmental benefits.

To achieve our objectives and define concrete measures, we have established dedicated targets and an action plan towards 2030, which are reviewed and updated annually.
